Variyata hails from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. She pursued her Bachelor of Arts in History, Philosophy and English Literature at Vikram University, Ujjain, followed by an M.A. in English Literature from Bengaluru City University. Her passion for sustainability emerged during her postgraduate studies, where she engrossed herself in writing and reading research papers exploring the connection between ecology and literature. This interest was further enhanced when she was selected to attend an online learning program on tackling the issue of climate change, taught by her favourite climate fiction author, Margaret Atwood.
During her college days Variyata worked on her skills as a freelance writer, and also authored her debut YA novel, "Teens on a Trip." Beyond her academic endeavors, she enjoys painting and writing short stories, finding her independent voice in these creative pursuits.
