Dr Meenakshi Bharath is a former Gynaecologist and Fertility specialist, an environmentalist and a TEDx speaker. She is a strong advocate for sustainable living and staunch campaigner for sustainable menstruation, zero-waste weddings and leaf composting. A powerhouse of energy, Dr Meenakshi Bharath has, over the last ten years led several community workshops, and has been actively involved in policy advocacy for decentralised waste management in Bengaluru. She previously also contested for the Bangalore Bruhat Mahanagara Palike corporator elections in 2010 and subsequently in 2012 Karnataka State Legislative Assembly elections. She also served as the President Loksatta party Bengaluru in 2012. She has been a finalist at the Namma Bangalore Awards 2012.
