Ramakanth NS is 85 years old and renowned for his unwavering dedication to community service and environmental stewardship in Bengaluru. He graduated from the National College of Mysore University in 1957, followed by a BSc in Mining Engineering from Banaras Hindu University. Ramakanth successfully passed the F.C.M examination by the Ministry of Labour, equipping him with expertise equivalent to a Master's degree in engineering.

His professional career took him across the globe, working in the mining industry with Italian and German-based companies for over three decades. In 1989, Ramakanth decided to retire from the mining industry.

After his voluntary retirement, Ramakanth redirected his focus to community and social work. For nearly a decade, he served as the President of the Kumara Park (West) Resident Welfare Association, advocating for the welfare of residents and spearheading several civic initiatives. His passion for civic engagement led him to contest the corporation election from Vasanth Nagar. Ramkanth was appointed as an expert on solid waste management issues by the Karnataka High Court. He has been instrumental as a member of the Bangalore Vision Group, contributing to the city's transformation into a smart city.

Throughout his career, Ramakanth has been the recipient of many awards. Notable among these are the 'Best Speaker' award at the Municipalika 2011 International Conference on Urban Governance, the prestigious 'Kensri Academy of Excellence Lifetime Achievement Award - 2014', 'Kempegowda Award - 2015' by BBMP for his service towards solid waste management, the "Aryabhatta International Award' for community service, 'Bangalorean of the Year - 2015' by Namma Bengaluru Foundation and "Samvahana Award - 2019' for 'Communicator of the Year' by the Public Relations Council of India, Bengaluru chapter.
