Vani Murthy is an avid composter, urban farmer, sustainability practitioner and citizen leader of Bengaluru. Vani is a Founding Member of SWMRT and We Care for Malleshwaram. She is an expert in different kinds of home composting methods. Over the years, she has tested several prototypes and composting solutions before their market roll-out. Vani’s work has simultaneously nurtured several entrepreneurs in the sustainability sector and driven adoption of composting solutions across the country.

Vani successfully leverages social media to influence and drive the sustainability movement forward on a daily basis. She has meticulously documented her practices and experiences over the years and her profile pages on Instagram, Youtube and Facebook are veritable treasure troves of continuous learning and engagement for the public making her one of the country’s leading and pre-eminent social media influencers. Vani has been featured in several media articles, and has been an invited speaker at several different platforms including TEDx and INK.

Vani has been conferred with several prestigious awards, including 'Vocational Excellence Award - 2018’ by Rotary Bangalore Northwest, Kalasha Award - 2011 by the Inner Wheel Club of Bangalore and others.. In 2013, Vani was one of the finalists for Namma Bengaluru Award in the Citizen Individual Category. In 2015, she was nominated as a contender for #100 women whose achievements were recognized by the Department of Women and Child Development by the Central Government of India.
